Message from the President

June 15, 2020
Many educators across the State have already been faced with layoffs, furloughs, and pay freezes. Furthermore, DESE recently released guidance for re-opening schools that requires cash-strapped districts to purchase costly PPE for next year. Congress is stalling on a federal stimulus to help cities and towns, and the State Legislature has not committed to fund the Student Opportunity Act. As usual, cuts to education will disproportionately affect our neediest communities. When we return to school, our students will need more support-not less, and our schools will require new safety measures.

This week, educators are participating in rallies, caravans, and other actions. We must do our part to send a strong message that our schools cannot wait for the funding they need and deserve.

Click on the link below to send an email to both our Federal and State Legislators, then share it with your colleagues. It's an easy and quick way to use our collective voices.
